This One Pause Can Transform Your Next Meal

A Mindful Eating “Bite Break”
Whether your goal is reducing stress, supporting digestion, improving energy, or tuning in to your body’s signals — mindful eating can help you reconnect with the present moment and your true needs.

Here’s one to try at your next meal:

  1. Pause Before Eating – Take one slow breath. Notice the meal or snack in front of you — its colors, textures, smells.

  2. First Bite Awareness – Take a bite. Focus on the taste, texture, and sensations in your mouth. What do you notice?

  3.  Mid-Meal Check-In – About halfway through your meal, ask yourself: “How hungry am I now?” Take note of your body's signals. Adjust your pace or portion based on what your body tells you.

Even this one mid-meal pause can help you avoid mindless eating, improve satisfaction, and reconnect with your body’s signals — whether your appetite changes are from stress, schedule shifts, or weight-loss medications.
